My Jersey

Was so excited that NS won the Bola Cup 2009 yesterday. Facebook status revealed hate, anger, excitement, etc. I, although not a football fan, also celebrated the joy, of course virtually. It has been reported in many blogs that the supporters burnt out the stadium seat, throwing hard objects, etc. Ironically, I am not annoyed. Because, anyway, my Kelantanese husband ni lah yang bancuhkan madu + limau, sediakan ubat and all ( I got bad throat infection last night). And he woke up in the middle of night curious whether I was OK or not.

Don't you agree, when we wear labels, life is difficult. Hatred begins when you put on your jerseys, say, I am anak Nogori, I am Kelantanese, I am puak Tamil Nilam, whatsoever. I just wonder, how much race, nationality has torn us apart.

A point to ponder, Singapore government has successfully disintegrated Malay in Spore, by enforcing i.e Malay Jawa, Malay Minangkabau, to be indicated in their ID card. The impact of a label is very destructive. Why dont you see that.

And if you happen to run politics or big organization, always remember this Jersey story. Anyway, I admire Lee Kuan Yew.
